DC3: Simultaneous radiated and conducted EMI characterization in multi-node sensor networks

Project: Simultaneous radiated and conducted EMI characterization in multi-node sensor networks (WP1)

Host institution: UT (Netherlands)

Supervisor: Niek Moonen (UT, Netherlands)

Co-supervisor(s): Frank Leferink (UT, Netherlands), Dries Vanoost (KU Leuven, Belgium), Evalina Tourounoglou (Thales, Netherlands)

Objectives:

  1. Develop advanced EMI sensors capable of capturing a wide range of electromagnetic disturbances (radiated and conducted, from low kHz to at least 40 GHz).
  2. Create monitoring devices that combine EMI sensors with existing logging and fault-detection mechanisms in electronic devices.
  3. Investigate database-processing techniques to manage and analyse the data generated by EMI sensors.

Expected Results:

  1. Advanced, cost-effective EMI sensors capable of characterizing both radiated and conducted disturbances over a wide frequency range.
  2. Integrated monitoring devices that leverage existing electronic device components for EMI detection.

Planned secondment(s):

  1. Academic secondment: KU Leuven, Dries Vanoost, M17-M19, 2M, Computationally efficient complex processing of large data.
  2. Industrial secondment: Thales, Evalina Tourounoglou, M24-M26, 2M, EMI propagation on-board complex platforms
